At Exelon we act with integrity and place a high value on being accountable to those we serve. Together, our employees made a meaningful impact on local communities in 2015, and I want to thank all of you for actively demonstrating the importance of giving back.
Through the Exelon Employee Giving Campaign we achieved a 47 percent donor rate company-wide, raising more than $6.3 million for over 3,000 charities. That, combined with a 50 percent company match to local United Way agencies, brought the campaign’s total contribution to more than $9.4 million – a 4 percent increase over 2014.
Employees also extended their generosity to benefit our communities in other ways:
- You donated a record $2.1 million through the Exelon Foundation Matching Gifts program, bringing total employee philanthropy to more than $8.4 million and company match donations to more than $11 million.
- You volunteered a record-breaking 129,178 hours to support 1,100 organizations that are important to you.
- Through volunteerism, you directed $452,600 in Exelon Dollars for Doers to your favorite charities.
These are impressive statistics. However, each number represents the positive change that you have helped to realize for countless people who live in the areas we serve. Parents in Philadelphia are receiving new job training in hopes of making a better living for their families, struggling youth in Houston are able to work with a mentor to improve their chances of going to college, and patients in Rockford, Ill. are receiving top-notch care thanks to the research advancements made possible by your donations.
These are just a few examples of how Exelon employees have come together to create solutions to our communities’ greatest needs and challenges.
In 2015, you set the bar high on all levels of community engagement. I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together this year, and I encourage you to visit the Energy for the Community website to learn how you can get involved today.
